Septic, Cesspit & Soakaway Repairs and Installation

Professional Repair & Maintenance Services for Septic Tanks, Cesspits, and Soakaways

There is nothing more incredibly inconvenient or embarrassing than having problems with your property’s sewage and wastewater disposal systems. This becomes especially true when it is not just clogged or deteriorating pipes that are causing the problem, but the property’s disposal system itself. For this reason, you should be properly informed about the kind of sewage disposal system to use for your property, and who to call when problems arise.

Depending on the type of property you have, as well as the land conditions and local building codes, the sewage and wastewater disposal system you can have installed may vary. In the event that your location does not connect to main sewage pipes provided by local governments or private corporations, your system can use any or all of the following:

  • Septic Tank – The septic system is the most commonly utilized system in areas without access to main sewage systems. As waste water is expelled from the home or property, these are collected in the sewage system’s key component, the septic tank. Usually, there are several chambers within the tank. The first chamber is where the waste water enters and where solids settle and scum floats. The solids that settled are anaerobically (no air) processed, significantly reducing the volume of solids. The liquid then moves to another chamber, where even more settlement takes place. The excess liquid, with minimum to no solids, are then drained to the drain field, or in some cases, the soakaway.
  • Soakaway – A soakaway is an underground structure commonly filled with gravel, rubble or other debris. It is utilized as a means to take rainwater from a downpipe, or, as mentioned previously, processed liquid sewage from a septic tank. The soakaway is what allows the processed wastewater to be absorbed into the surrounding soil.
  • Cesspit – A cesspit is similar to a septic tank. It serves as a storage unit for the wastewater expelled from a property. This is, however, where the similarity ends, as a cesspit is purely a holding tank without an outlet for the liquid portion of the waste to drain away. This requires draining/emptying the cesspit at a more frequent rate than a standard septic tank.
